Hey!

I’m Marcel, welcome to my portfolio!

Below you’ll find a few projects of mine reflecting 90% of my skills, tools and approach to projects. First and foremost my bachelor thesis AR SKINS, which is the core of my work so far. Not all projects have made it on the website yet, but will follow soon.

AR SKINS

For my bachelor thesis, I created a product that brings the concept of Skins known from video games into reality by making virtual content wearable in real time.

The documentation captures the journey of bringing this idea to life—experimenting with software and materials, crafting prototypes, testing technology, building Skins, and exploring the idea’s potential as a product.

GARDEN WALL VISUALIZATION

Imagine planning a major home investment, like building a garden wall.
You spend time and energy sketching out options and discussing them with everyone involved. It’s a costly enterprise that will last for years to come, so you better make a good decision…

This project alleviates some of that stress by allowing to experiment and visualize various wall designs. It uses a 3D scan of the house and Blender’s geometry nodes to procedurally generate combinations of hedges, crenels, merlons, lamps, metal or wood elements.

The renders simplify sharing and discussing ideas by comparing options side by side. Multiple perspectives give a sense of proportion, dimension, material and color combinations.

CLOTH SIMULATION WORKFLOW

As part of my student job, I developed a workflow that integrates the strengths of multiple software tools to achieve maximum flexibility and visually optimal results. The video serves as a demonstration of this workflow.

The avatar could be any humanoid 3D model.
Rigging and animation was done in Mixamo.
The cloth design and simulation was done in Clo3D.
Scene assets were borrowed from Unreal Engine’s Quixel Bridge.
Everything was combined, composed and rendered in Blender.

WALDEINSAMKEIT

Waldeinsamkeit is a project that was created in collaboration with two fellow students.

Starting point was a small hut Nicolas-Friedrich Hohlt build for his bachelor thesis. The idea of exhibiting the hut in a forest proved to be difficult, due to its size and weight. Markus Meier and me decided to help out by bringing the hut into a digital environment and creating a VR experience. A playthrough can be found here.

While also working on level design and concept, my job was to create a digital twin of the hut.

3D Marketing Prop – Fist

This small project was about turning the logo of a food start-up into a marketing prop for social media and events. The fist was sculpted in Blender, 3D printed and finally processed with filler paste, sanded down and spray-painted.
